Alice L. Bohlayer

Age 91, passed away peacefully at home on Fri. November 8, 2024 surrounded by her loving family just 36 days after her beloved husband, Raymond E. Bohlayer. Born on February 3, 1933 in Elmira, daughter of the late, George & Grace Cronin Hall. Alice was a dedicated caregiver and was employed as a Registered Nurse at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center for many years until she had children and became a stay at home mom. Alice and Ray were married on September 21, 1957 at the Northside Presbyterian Church. They shared 67 years of marriage until Ray's passing. Caring for her family was most important to Alice. She was the best mother/grandma (Nanny)/great-grandma to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. No matter who you were Nanny would always make you feel loved. She loved supporting her granddaughters and great-grandchildren at all their sporting events and was always so proud of them. Surviving are her two cherished children, Laurie (Tim) Crout, and David (Nancy) Bohlayer, both of Horseheads; grandchildren, Kara Teeter with Sam Roorda, Jennifer (Shane) Leonberger; and her four great-grandchildren, Jaret and Jaxon Teeter and Kylie and Aleah Leonberger. Alice also had bonus grandchildren including, Morgan Leonberger, Alicia and Eric Paluch, a bonus great-granddaughter, Jenny, a bonus great-great-granddaughter, Aubree and many close family and friends. In addition to her parents and husband, Alice was predeceased by her brother, Norris Hall and her sisters Grace Griffin and Peggy Rose. In honor of Alice's wishes, there will be no public funeral services. The family will hold a celebration of life Thursday, November 21, 2024 from 3:30-5:30 pm at Sonny's Bar and Grill in Horseheads. All family and friends are welcome.
