Raymond E "Sonny" Bohlayer

Age 91, passed away on Wednesday October 2, 2024 surrounded by his loving family. Born on April 29, 1933 in Elmira, son of the late, Vern & Viola Woodard Bohlayer. In service to his country, Ray served in the US Army Reserves. He married Alice Hall on September 21, 1957 and they shared 67 wonderful years of marriage together. Ray aka "Sonny" was a well renowned, self-employed electrician for many years in the Elmira area and had many loyal friends. He loved to bowl and fish, but the most enjoyable thing to "Poppy" was watching his grandchildren and great-grandchildren play sports; he never missed a game or event. He loved all of them so much! In addition to his devoted wife, Alice, Ray is survived by their two children, Laurie (Tim) Crout, and David (Nancy) Bohlayer, both of Horseheads; grandchildren, Kara Teeter with Sam Roorda, Jennifer (Shane) Leonberger; and his four great-grandchildren, Jaret and Jaxon Teeter and Kylie and Aleah Leonberger. Ray also had bonus grandchildren including, Morgan Leonberger, Alicia and Eric Paluch, a bonus great-granddaughter, Jenny, a bonus great-great-granddaughter, Aubree and many close family and friends. In abiding by Ray's wishes, there will be no funeral services. The family will hold a celebration of life Saturday, October 12, 2024 from 2-4 at Sonny's Bar and Grill in Horseheads. All friends and family are welcome.
