Honoring the Spirit and Celebrating the life of Mrs. Alice Jeanette “Tippy” Edwards Brunson, the daughter of the late Mary Eliza (Daivid) Johnson. Alice, reared by her maternal grandparents, the late Hezekiah and the late Lela Brown Edwards and was born February 26, 1947. She passed away on Wednesday, September 6, 2023, after an illness.
Alice, known to her many families and friends as “Tippy” attended Mount Rona Elementary School and Gibbs Elementary School in Pamplico, South Carolina and later graduated from Wilson High School Class of 1965, in Florence, South Carolina.
After graduation, Alice migrated to Miami, Florida and was employed with Miami Dade Department of Juvenile Detention Center, until her health declined.
Alice joined Mount Rona Baptist Church, at an early age, and was baptized.
In 2013, upon relocating to Florence, South Carolina, She joined Antioch Baptist Church, under the leadership of Pastor Jeffery Harris.
In 1969, Alice joined in holy matrimony to the late Ernest B. Brunson. To this wonderful union, a son, Lenny, was born.
Alice was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest B. Brunson; her parents, Mary Eliza (David) Johnson; her maternal grandparents that reared her, Hezekiah and Lela Brown Edwards; her father-in-law, Lee Ernest Brunson; mother-in-law, Mertha Mae Canty Brunson; two brothers-in-law, Carmen Brunson and Ronald Brunson; and two sisters-in-law, Tangilyn Brunson and Janice Brunson.
Alice leaves to cherish her precious memories: a son, Lenny Bernard Brunson of the home; four sisters, Shirley Stanley, Coretha (Minister Edward) Brown, Grace Weeks and Catherine Johnson all of Miami, Florida; a special cousin reared as her sister, Rosetta “Molly” (Manning) Joe of Effingham, South Carolina; a special cousin reared as her brother, Richard “Scrubby” (Cynthia) Daniels of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; one aunt, Maggie McAllister of Effingham, South Carolina; three brothers-in-law, Lester Brunson, Eddie (Roslyn) Brunson and David Brunson all of Maimi, Florida; five sisters -in-law, Mary Mellerson and Sonya Lake both of Upper Marlboro, Maryland, Margaret Brown of Lauderhill, Florida, Dethera Ward of Hollywood, Florida and Ageria Brunson of North Miami, Florida; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
