Obituary
ALICE (ENOKIAN) DOLBASHIAN, 100, of Cranston, passed away Saturday, December 10, 2022 at Hope Hospice in Providence. She was the beloved wife of the late Paul Dolbashian, Sr.
Alice immigrated to the U.S. in 1923 at the age of 9 months from what was then Constantinople, now Istanbul, Turkey. Her mother, Ankine (Haroutunian) Enokian, grandmother, and aunts were fleeing the oppressive Ottoman regime. Although, sadly, she never knew her father, Hagop Garabedian, she had the great good fortune of being raised by her loving stepfather Charles Enokian. The unbreakable bond she shared with her younger sister Louise was one of the most important of her long life.
Alice was a smart, funny, and sweet woman. She had a brilliant mind for numbers and spent most of career as a numbers wiz in various industries.
In the last year of her life, Alice was a resident of the St. Elizabeth Home where she regularly entertained her caretakers with her special sense of humor. Getting Alice ready for bed each night was often a laugh fest, and our family is especially grateful for the kindness and caring our mom received from all of her angels there.
She was the devoted mother of Christine A. Coleman of Warwick, Diane Dolbashian of West Hartford, CT and Paul Dolbashian, Jr. and his wife Christina of Cranston; cherished grandmother of Gina-Marie, Louis, Alice, Paul and the late Warren; loving great-grandmother of Phoenix, Atom and Henry; and dear sister of Louise Merdinian of Leesburg, VA. She is also survived by 13 loving nieces and nephews.
Her funeral will be held on Friday, December 16th at 9:45 a.m. from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Ave., Cranston, followed by a Funeral Service at 11 a.m. in Sts. Vartanantz Armenian Apostolic Church, 402 Broadway, Providence. Burial will be at Swan Point Cemetery, Providence. VISITING HOURS are Thursday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Armenian Relief Society.
