Alice Eifler Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Funeral Caring USA - Drexel Avenue - South Central San Antonio from Oct. 6 to Oct. 7, 2024.
Alice Rose Drinkwater Eifler was born on April 6, 1930, to Samuel and Sara Drinkwater in
La Union, New Mexico, and earned her angel wings on September 25, 2024. Due to a
limited water supply and a bad well the family decided to move back to Texas and settled
in San Antonio, when Alice was quite young. She attended Little Flower School, Paige
Middle School and Brackenridge High School, where she was a proud Purple Jacket.
She earned her associates degree from Draughn's Business College and found her dream
job working for Southwestern Bell. She was also very active in her parish, St. Cecilia's
Catholic Church. While attending a church sponsored picnic, she met the love of her life
Michael John Eifler. They were married at St. Cecilia's on December 20, 1952, and
celebrated 63 yrs together until Michael's death in 2016. Their first child, Cathy, arrived in
1954, and they soon moved to a new home and a new parish St. Gregory the Great
Catholic Church. Their second child, son Mike, was joyously welcomed in 1961.
Alice was very active at St. Gregory's participating in PTC, Altar Society, CYO, Eucharistic
Ministry and the Parish Council. She continued her life of service (including working with
her husband helping with various Knights of Columbus activities and numerous civic
organizations) until the pandemic curtailed all activities. She is survived by her children,
Cathy (Eifler) Hoy (and spouse Thomas Hoy), and Michael L. Eifler (and spouse Hector
Llanas). She joins her beloved husband Michael, her parents and brothers in heaven.
Although she will be sorely missed, she leaves behind a legacy of honor and service. The
family would like to thank Trinity Hospice and to offer a very special thanks to Margie's
Angels for their loving service and dedication to "Ms. Alice."

Interment will follow a graveside ceremony at Fort Sam Houston on October 8th at 10:30
A.M. Please consider making a contribution to a charity of your choice.

Along with her husband, Mike, and my friend Peter, we coached the Eifler's son Mike at St. Gregory's CYO baseball. I remember Mrs. Eifler as a very beautiful lady.
