As we celebrate the life and legacy of Alice Fleming, we pause to recall some very cherished memories. Alice was the baby of 4 children born to the parents of the late Henry Lee Fleming and Pearlie Bailey. Thriving with a 10th grade education, at the tender age of 19, she welcomed her first baby girl Rachel, 12 days before her 19th birthday. Not thinking she would have anymore children, Alice welcomed her baby girl Shanane 17 years later. In 2010, she met the love of her life, Jimmy Lee Taylor where they shared 13 years of love, laughter, obstacles and dedication.
Alice was a stay at home mom who loved to cook, take care of the elderly in her community and work outside to feed the birds everyday. She enjoyed music, dancing and was a true comedian. Always lots of laughs and smiles when she was in the room. After a long battle with multiple illnesses, God called her home November 20, 2023.
Alice was preceded in death by her parents Henry Lee Fleming and Pearlie Bailey; and sibling Bobby Ray Fleming.
Among many family members who will continue to cherish Alice’s precious memories are her two daughters Rachel Fleming and Shanane Fleming; siblings Mary Alice Fleming and Dennis Ray Fleming. Alice was also very proud of her grandchildren Chanel Stoner, Jada Jones, Dairen Fleming, Marlon Jackson and Tyson Jackson; her love and best friend Jimmy Lee Taylor; and her only niece Deisha Cole; nephew Roderick Jones. There are a host of relatives cousins and friends that will also forever keep her memories alive
