Alice (Showerman) Frederick, 83, of Palatine Bridge, NY, passed away peacefully on November 12, 2025 in her home.
Born on February 10, 1942, in Fort Plain, NY, to Ralph and Irene (Smith) Showerman, Alice grew up on her family's farm, where she learned the values of hard work, resilience, and caring for others-qualities that shaped her entire life.
Alice was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend whose love and laughter touched everyone she met. She is survived by her loving children: Sharon Frederick, Frank Frederick III and his wife Traci; David Frederick and his wife Angela; and Timothy Frederick and his wife Janette. She was a proud grandmother to Shana Parker (husband Jason), Meggin Whiteman (husband Ronald Jay), HMI Brok-Aaron Frederick (wife HM2 Allyson), Timothy Frederick Jr., and Christopher Frederick. Her joy continued through her great-grandchildren: Addison Frederick, John-Carson Frederick, and Kinley Whiteman. Alice is also survived by her sisters, Terri Arduini and Robin Showerman. She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers Ralph, Leo, and Gerald Showerman.
Alice will be remembered for her quick wit, warm sense of humor, and steadfast faith as one of Jehovah's Witnesses. She found joy in life's simple pleasures-cooking and baking (especially her famous candy cake), tending to her garden, and watching the birds she loved so dearly. Her strength, love, and laughter will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
A celebration of Alice's life will be held at Houghtaling and Hanley Funeral Home, 20 Otsego Street, Canajoharie, NY, 13317. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to Ayres Animal Shelter, honoring Alice's love for animals.
