Alice Irene Cox Goodwin age 83, passed away December 15, 2025 in Marietta, Georgia. Alice was born on April 20, 1942 to Jep and Buford Cox in Tunica County, Mississippi.
Alice grew up on a farm in the Mississippi delta and embraced a love for the outdoors. She enjoyed her horses and held a lifelong passion for dogs. Rarely did she live a day without a dog, big or small, in her life.
On June 11, 1963, she married Hal D. Goodwin of Crenshaw, Mississippi. They spent 62 loving and adventurous years together. They explored the world from extensive trips out west to New England, Hawaii, snowmobiling through Yellowstone, touring Europe and visiting the Holy Land.
She attended Northwest Mississippi Junior College, Delta State University and Middle Tennessee State University.
Alice excelled in vocal music, was a talented pianist and enjoyed singing for many years with the church choirs of Due West Methodist and Roswell Street Baptist.
She gave of her time to keep newborns at church and to volunteer with the Women's Pregnancy Center. In recent years, she had enjoyed membership at Burnt Hickory Baptist Church.
Alice's greatest joy was her grandson, Logan. Whether going to the movies together, traveling or getting the always needed tech help, she loved nothing more than being with him.
She was a shining light in the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her life on this earth was marked by love, compassion, and unwavering faith in God. Her passing has left a void in the hearts of her family, friends, and many more whose lives were touched by her. But, we know she is no longer in pain as she is in the arms of her Lord and Savior.
Alice is survived by her husband, Hal; her daughter Lisa Brennan and son -in- law, William of Acworth; grandson Logan Brennan and granddaughter -in -law, Mary Beth of Kennesaw; and great grandson, Nathan Brennan. She was preceded in death by her parents.
The visitation will be held at West Cobb Funeral Home on Saturday, December 20 at 10am. The service will follow immediately at 11am.
