I was a cook at the former Long Horn Restaurant and worked once during the Covered Bridge Festival. We were so busy that the orders were flowing out of the kitchen printer so fast that I could not keep up with the orders. Alice scurried into the kitchen to help, but the paper was almost all the way to the floor and still flowing out of the printer by the time she joined me in the kitchen. We were scrambling to keep up with the never-ending orders, but shortly after Alice began assisting me, we both just stopped in our tracks, looked at each other, and began laughing hysterically because we knew there was no hope of keeping up with the orders the way we wanted to. Alice looked at me and said, "Don´t worry about it. There is no way we´re going to keep up with this!" We both started laughing even harder. That helped put me at ease, and we got through it. Not long after that, I worked one night as the only cook, and I cooked from a full menu for 20 people at once. Alice was so proud of me that she framed the kitchen print out and gave it to me as a Christmas gift. She once commented, " I am so impressed at how quickly you learned the menu." I have a lot of fond memories of Alice and working at the Long Horn Restaurant and Tavern. May Alice forever rest in peace, and my heartfelt condolences, however late, go out to Joe, to friends, and to family.
