Alice Markgraf Obituary

Alice Ann Markgraf, 84, of Machesney Park, died on Friday, January 3, 2025. Born on September 17, 1940 in Dodgeville, WI., to Lloyd and Katherine Duncan (Henderickson) Forbes. Alice graduated from Dodgeville High School in 1959. She married Donald Lee "Moose" Markgraf on August 20, 1960. Alice worked at Greenlee Textron as a welder starting in 1964 and retiring in 2004.
Alice is survived by her sons, Brian (Aiza) Markgraf of Rockford and Greg (Veronika) Markgraf of Rockford; grandchildren, Gretchen (Zach) Buchanan, Brianna (Joe Novak) Markgraf, Jake, and Ian Markgraf; great-grandchildren, Adeline & Isaac Buchanan and Lola Novak; sisters-in-law, Pat Forbes and Karen Forbes; and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents; husband, Donald; brothers, Tom & Jim Forbes; sisters, Mary (Ken) Tibbits and Rita Duncan; daughter-in-law, Amy Markgraf.
A celebration of life to be held from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 26, 2025 at American Legion Post #332, 221 W. Main St., Rockton, IL. Please check back for more information.
