Dodgeville – Carol Lynn Murphy, age 64, of Dodgeville, passed away quietly at her home in Dodgeville on Thursday, August 14, 2025. Born on June 17, 1961, in Madison, Carol was the cherished daughter of John and Sally McSherry. She grew up in Ridgeway, attending Ridgeway Grade School and later graduating from Dodgeville High School. Carol spent many years working at Lands' End, where her dedication and kindness left a lasting impression. She later found her calling as the assistant director at the Dodgeville Library, where her love of books and community came together. Carol helped shape the library into a welcoming place for all. Carol's happiest days were spent outside with a fishing rod in hand and her beloved dog, Jordy by her side. She especially enjoyed her travels to Montana and her visits to Yellowstone National Park, where she was always on an adventure to spot wildlife. One of her favorite rituals was sipping a cup of coffee at Chico Hot Springs, a simple pleasure she looked forward to on every trip. As president of the Nohr Chapter of Trout Unlimited in southwest Wisconsin, Carol shared her passion for conservation and fly fishing with countless others, always eager to teach and inspire. Carol's greatest pride and joy were her children, Brandon and Sienna, and her beloved grandchildren, Nola and Willa. She loved to cook and made countless loaves of banana bread with her granddaughters. She also loved spending time with her siblings, whose humor and companionship brought her endless joy. She treasured family gatherings filled with stories, good food, and lots of laughter. Carol was known for her generous spirit, quick wit, and unwavering kindness. Her friendships ran deep and her impact on those around her was immeasurable. Carol is survived by her children Brandon (Shasta) Murphy and Sienna (Shawn) McGuire; her grandchildren Nola and Willa McGuire; the father of her children, Mark Murphy; siblings Jim (Karla) McSherry, Gene (Kari) McSherry, Kathy (David dec.) Kruger, Patty (Dennis) Rickey, Mary McSherry, and Bill McSherry; and her beloved dog, Jordy. She was preceded in death by her parents, John Francis McSherry and Sally Rae McSherry, and her brother-in-law, David Kruger. Carol's legacy lives on in the hearts of those who knew her, in every trout stream she fished, every book she cherished, every trail she wandered, and every life she touched. A public visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 20, 2025 at the GORGEN-McGINLEY & AYERS FUNERAL HOME in Dodgeville. In honor of Carol's lifelong love for nature and conservation, memorials may be made to the Nohr Chapter of Trout Unlimited.
