Alice F. "Peggy" Howard-McSwain – age 82 of Strawberry Plains, TN, went home to join her Heavenly Father and her beloved husband Bill on Friday, June 6, 2025. She was a long-time member of John Sevier Church of God, and in her last years had attended Hopewell Church where her great-nephew, Jacob Williams served as Pastor.
Peggy was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother that loved her family deeply. She was a sweet soul with a fun spirit that never met a stranger. She will be missed by all that knew and loved her, especially her family.
Peggy was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, William J. "Bill" McSwain, Jr.; son, Jeffrey L. McSwain, Sr.; granddaughter, Kari L. Fowler; parents, Charles and Rosa Shores-Howard; siblings Charles Howard, Bobby Howard, Willard Howard, Betty Reed, Dorothy Kitts, Phyllis Cupp, and William Howard.
She is survived by her children, Donna Fowler, Karen Garrison, and William John (Christina) McSwain; daughter-in-love, Angie McSwain; grandchildren, Laura (Michael) Vick, Lyndsey (Steve) Rodarte, Jeffrey L. (April) McSwain, Jr., Meghan Fowler, Erica (Jeff) Mason, William J. (Saylor) McSwain IV, Morgan McSwain, and Mary Claire McSwain; great-grandchildren, Lily, Ava, Taylor, Roman, Levi, Wyatt, Gunner, Brooklyn, Braylon, Ellie, and Jay; brothers, Carroll (Dana) Howard and Ray (Angie) Howard; and sister-in-law Julie Howard
Receiving of friends will be from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Wednesday, June 11, 2025, at Bridges Funeral Home. The Celebration of Peggy's Life will follow at 7:00 PM with Pastor Jacob Williams officiating.
Family and friends will meet at 10:00 AM on Thursday at Bridges Funeral Home to go in procession to Roseberry Cemetery for an 11:00 AM Graveside Service.
