Alice Meyer Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Suchon Funeral Home and Cremation Services - Plymouth on Mar. 3, 2026.
Alice Dorothy (Sippel) Meyer, age 90, passed away on March 1st at Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice surrounded by her loving children, following a courageous battle with cancer.

Alice was born on March 24, 1935 to the late Claude and Lucille (Kohlman) Sippel in the city of Fond du Lac. Alice attended Payne Elementary School in the Town of Mitchell and graduated from Plymouth High School in 1953. While growing up on a farm, Alice learned the value of working hard which she excelled at her entire life.

On September 10, 1955 she married Joseph Meyer Jr. at St. Michaels Catholic Church in the Town of Mitchell. A short time later they purchased their first home on Short Cut Road in Plymouth, where they raised their six children. Joe preceded her in death on June 15, 2007.

Alice was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Plymouth where she often volunteered to help with the Friday fish dinners, serving at funeral (celebration of life) meals and the yearly craft show.

Alice had numerous jobs throughout the years but first and foremost a wife and mother. Outside the home she worked at Bordens, The Grill, The Motor Inn, Turner Hall and finally, The Depot Steak House Restaurant in Plymouth where she worked from the grand opening of the Depot until retiring 38 years later. Everyone seemed to know Alice from the Depot. She made a lot of friends and had regular customers that would specifically ask for her to be their server. She even waited on a few famous race car drivers such as Michael and Mario Andretti, AJ Foyt and Bobby Rahal, just to name a few. Alice herself even participated in driving a race car in the powder puff event at the Plymouth dirt track many years ago.

Through the years Alice enjoyed spending time with her family, friends and doing a wide variety of activities such as; Monday night bowling league and attending state bowling tournaments, going to weekly mass, grabbing a bite to eat with friends, card club, going for motorcycle and boat rides, taking bus trips to plays, concerts, dinner shows (Fireside) and craft fairs, mowing the lawn and planting flowers. She also took various exercise classes, which she held her own up against the younger generation in the class. Later on in life she traveled to such places as San Diego, Las Vegas, Punta Cana, Branson, and Riviera Maya.

While attending one of many class reunions, she began a loving 4 year relationship with Glenn Achter, a high school classmate. Together they shared so much joy, love and laughter. Sadly Glenn passed away in February of 2026.

Alice is survived by five of her children; Nancy Steinpreis, Gary (Roberta) Meyer, Mary(Tim) Veldman, Monica(Tony) Fischer, Dan(Tina Roelse) Meyer, son in law Jim Koeser, seven grandchildren; Heather(Tony) Ebert, Paul(Emily) Meyer, Rachael(Al) Wright, Brittni(Catrina) Chapple, Dexter Curtiss, Brooke Koeser, Sydnie(Chanler) Leurquin, five step grandchildren; Amanda(Jamie) Farr, Matt(Stephanie) Steinpreis, Jackie(Tony) Roberts, Greg(Becky) Fischer, Lance Fischer, three great grandchildren; Braxton Meyer, Amari & Elijah Wright, ten step great grandchildren; Nicholas, Tyller, and Gavin Farr, Emma and Carter Dombroski, Makenzie and Levi Kemieciak, Owen, Everett, and Crosby Fischer, further extended family; Trenton, Dominick, Alexis, Rayven, Megan and Danielle, two brothers; Tom(Kay) Sippel, Bob(Mary) Sippel. Alice is also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends.

In addition to her parents and husband Joe, she was also preceded in death by her daughter Judy Koeser, in laws; Joseph Sr. and Florence (Schufflebotham) Meyer, brother Joe(Sandy) Sippel, sister Joyce(Don) Federwisch, brothers and sisters in law; Kathryn(Roland) Bruggink, Evelyn(John) Passini, Irene(John) Brickbauer, Mary Lou(Joe) Lazarewicz, Gene(Carol) Meyer, two half-brothers in law; Kenneth(Arlene) Meyer and Paul Meyer.

Following Alice's wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at Suchon Funeral home in Plymouth on Monday, March 16th at 5:00 PM. Family and friends may call starting at 2:00 PM up until the time of service. Father Subi from St. John the Baptist Catholic Church will officiate. Entombment will be in the Gardens of Peace Mausoleum at Greenlawn Memorial Park in the town of Sheboygan. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established in Alice's name.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt and grateful THANK YOU to the staff at Aurora Cancer Care in Grafton, Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice and Songbird Pond Assisted Living Facility in Plymouth for the exceptional care, compassion and support given to Alice and her family.
