Alice Laverne Allen Moss, 81 years old, sadly passed away on October 30, 2023, in Springfield, MO.

Alice was born on October 26, 1942, to John F. Allen and Lee Odom Allen in Kosciusko, MS. She spent much of her adult life living in the surrounding suburbs of Jackson, MS. She had moved to Highlandville, Mo in December 2022 to live with her daughter and her family.

Alice is survived by her brother, Daniel Allen, her daughter, Kimberly King, her son, Dylan Moss, her grandsons, Matthew Phillips, Austin King, Garret Moss, Wyatt Moss, and Easton Moss, her granddaughters, Angel Phillips, Bethany Rosenbaum, Carmen Graves, Abbi Moss, Bailey Moss, and eight great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Lee Allen, her husband, Talmadge Moss, her brother Ollie Allen, and her son, David Phillips.

She worked as a seamstress for many years, was a homemaker while her children were growing up, babysat grandchildren for several years, and worked various jobs before retiring.

Alice was called Laverne by her family and friends. She was a very loving and kind lady that was dedicated to her faith in God and her family. She made sure that her family knew that she cared for them. She loved cooking meals, and always made sure everyone had a home cooked meal when they visited. She learned to play the guitar at an early age and later played the piano and sang in some of the churches that she attended. She liked to sew and work with crafts. She sewed many beautiful dresses for her daughter and granddaughters when they were younger. People often commented that she had a beautiful smile, that she looked younger than her age, and that she had pretty hairstyles that she done herself.

She was very happy to spend time with her daughter and her husband, her grandchildren, and great grandchildren since moving to Missouri. Her family will cherish these precious memories that they had with her during that time. Her family in Missouri all visited her the afternoon before she suddenly passed away that night, and they are thankful that they spent time with her that day.

She will be greatly missed by all those who knew her. She lived her life anticipating going to a better home in Heaven where there will be no tears or suffering.

Visitation hours are Friday, November 3, 2023, at 5 p.m. - 8 p.m. at Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Brandon, MS. Funeral service will be held Saturday, November 4, 2023, at 11 a.m. at First United Pentecostal Church in Brandon, MS with a graveside service following the funeral at Parkway Cemetery in Kosciusko, MS.
