A memorial service for Alice will be held on Friday, March 31, 2023, at First Presbyterian Church located at 10 W. Liberty Street, York, SC 29745 starting at 1:00 PM with Rev. Nick Setzer officiating. Visitation will immediately follow the service.
Alice was born on January 27, 1931, in York County. She was the daughter of the late John D. Templeton and Susie Hilton Templeton. She was a registered nurse that trained at Presbyterian Hospital in Charlotte, NC and a member of First Presbyterian Church, York, SC and a former member of Hudson Memorial Presbyterian Church in Raleigh, NC and First Presbyterian Church in Odessa, TX. Alice was a former resident of Columbus MS, and Roswell, NM.
Alice is survived by her sons William Clarence Shillinglaw, III (Penny), Scott Donnan Shillinglaw, and her daughter Lisa Shillinglaw Evans (Steve). She is also survived by her grandson William D. Evans, and great grandchildren Jon-Mai Haymon, and Steven Moody, all of the home, as well as Josiah Evans and Madison and Evan Wilkes.
In addition to her parents, Alice was preceded in death by her husband, William Clarence Shillinglaw, Jr. and her brothers John D. Templeton, Joseph H. Templeton, and William M. Templeton as well as her sister, Betty Templeton Sparks.
In memory of Alice, memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church at 10 W. Liberty Street, York, SC 29745, Filbert Presbyterian Church at 2066 Filbert Highway, York, SC 29745 or W.C. Shillinglaw Scholarship Fund, Advancement Office, P.O. Box 975, Clinton, SC 29325.
