Alice Rose Snyder, age 95, passed away peacefully on Thursday, Sept. 25, 2025. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, friend and teacher - more than willing to open her heart and share her knowledge with anyone who shared her orbit.

Alice was born to Michael and Jennie Jasinski in Chicago on Feb. 1, 1930. Shortly after graduating college, Alice married Gordon D. Snyder on August 9, 1953, in Chicago. She began a teaching career that would span nearly 40 years - including 25 years at St. Mary of the Woods in Chicago - while also raising three sons at home.

A longtime Chicago resident, she maintained a reverent fandom for the Bulls, Bears and Cubs - spending much of her retirement watching those teams languish in futility (even when no one else in her family would) until the Cubs achieved the long-thought-impossible and won a World Series in 2016. She also maintained a lifelong love of music-holding special affection for Frank Sinatra - and sharing her music appreciation as a piano teacher for several years.

Even blessed with an enormous heart, Alice (like so many in her family) also possessed a quick wit and sharp sense of humor. She loved to laugh and seldom let an opportunity for wisecrack pass.

Alice was preceded in death by her husband Gordon; her parents, Michael and Jennie Jasinski; and her siblings Gene Jasinski, Lorraine (Gordon) Scharl, and Robert (Bev) Jasinski.

Survivors include her sons, Michael (Frances) Snyder, Lombard, IL, Gordon Snyder, Longboat Key, FL, Robert (Anna) Snyder, Caldwell, ID; grandchildren Paul (Mariateresa) Snyder, Carla (Michael) Nolan, John Snyder, Mollie Snyder, Marina Snyder and Julianna Snyder; and her great grandson Michael Alessandro Snyder.

Visitation Tuesday, September 30, 2025 from 9-10:30am at Smith-Corcoran Funeral Home 6150 N Cicero Ave, Chicago, IL 60646. Mass Saint Mary of the Woods Parish 6955 N Hiawatha, Chicago, IL 60646. Interment Private. For information www.smithcorcoran.com or 773.736.3833.
