Alice Stevig Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Knapp-Johnson Funeral Home & Cremation Center - Morton on Feb. 20, 2026.
MORTON - Alice Stevig, 94, of Morton, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 18, 2026, at Apostolic Christian Restmor.

Born the day after Christmas, December 26, 1931, at home, in Gridley, Illinois, Alice was the daughter of Elmer Sr. and Anna (Gramm) Klopfenstein. On August 9, 1959, she married Keith Stevig and they were married 59 years.

Alice is survived by her son, Larry (Barb) Stevig of Bloomington; her granddaughters, Erin (Thomas) Frankie of Carmel, Ind., Bonnie (Ben) Putman of Louisville, Ky., and Lauren Stevig of Detroit, Mich.; and seven great-grandchildren whom she cherished, Silas, Audra and Jocelyn Frankie, Piper, Kimber, Rosie and Michael Putman; and two sisters-in-law, Miriam Klopfenstein of Anderson, S.C. and Carol Klopfenstein of Gridley, Ill.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Keith; four brothers, Elmer "Jay" (Ruth), Ralph (Catherine), Lynn, and Perry Klopfenstein; her sister, Ada (Jerry) Christensen and one granddaughter, Halley Stevig.

Alice graduated from Gridley High School in 1949 and Brokaw Hospital School for Nurses in 1956. She was a registered nurse and worked in Chicago and the Peoria and Bloomington-Normal areas.

At the age of 20, Alice gave her heart to the Lord. She was an avid reader and loved to quilt, watch tennis and was known for her family Christmas dessert "heavenly hash." She and Keith loved to spend many summers in Estes Park, Colorado.

Alice was faithful member of the Morton Apostolic Christian Church, where a funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, February 28, 2026, with church ministers officiating. Visitation will take place from 9-10:15 a.m., prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Burial will be at Morton Apostolic Christian Church Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be directed Apostolic Christian Restmor, Inc. or Pathway Ministries.

The family expresses their appreciation for the loving care provided by the staff at Restmor, where she was a resident in The Oaks for almost 8 years.

Arrangements are being handled by Knapp - Johnson Funeral Home and Cremation Center. Online condolences may be shared online at www.knappjohnson.com.
