Obituary for Alice Ida Tarailo
May 14, 1933 – October 10, 2025

Alice Ida Tarailo, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend, passed away peacefully on October 10, 2025, in Fresno, California, at the age of 92.

Born on May 14, 1933, in Clovis, California, Alice was the daughter of Mathias and Emily Karschen. She grew up in Clovis, graduated from Clovis High School, and was an active member of 4-H during her youth where she raised prize winning hogs.

She was married for 33 years to Andy Tarailo, who ranched and raised three young children until tragedy struck at the age of 27. Andy broke his neck and was left completely paralyzed. That left Alice to run the ranch, raise three children, and care for her disabled husband for two long and difficult years. We deeply respect our mom for stepping up in a time of immense hardship - managing the ranch, raising us, and carrying the entire family on her back while our dad recovered. Through determination and perseverance, Andy slowly learned how to walk again and eventually began a new career as a Credit Union manager.

Once her children were grown and had left home, Alice too reinvented herself. She became a Credit Union manager and later an auditor, proving that it's never too late to learn and grow. All of Alice's children presented their own challenges at times, but she was always there - to help us, to guide us, and most importantly, to never judge us. We all pulled through, and we owe that to the strength, love, and resilience of both Mom and Dad.

Outside of work, Alice had a rich and creative spirit. She was a talented artist who found joy in painting and all forms of arts and crafts. A lover of the outdoors, she enjoyed fishing, gardening, and spending time in nature. She also had a passion for cards, especially bridge, and was known to be an advanced and competitive player. But most importantly, it was through this bridge community that personal connections blossomed into wonderful, lifelong friendships. When not at the card table, Alice could often be found enjoying a trip to the casino-Chukchansi was her favorite.

Alice's warmth and humor made her the heart of her family. She is survived by her loving children, son Russell Tarailo and daughter Crystal Fay and husband William; her cherished grandchildren Paul, Tyler, David, Nicole, Jeff, Lexi, Cori, Laura, and William; and her adored great-grandchildren Adara, Zach, Heidi, Zoe, Joshua, Liam, Demo, Sylvana. She also leaves behind her nieces Judy Rank, Pat Rank, and Ginny Hovsepian.

Alice was preceded in death by her parents, Mathias and Emily Karschen, her beloved son Daniel, her sister Evelyn Rank, and beloved great granddaughter Andrea .

Her legacy is one of strength, resilience, creativity, and love. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

A visitation will be held at Clovis Funeral Chapel, located at 1302 Clovis Avenue, Clovis, CA 93612, on Saturday, October 25, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., with a funeral service to follow at 12:00 p.m. A reception will immediately follow the service.

In lieu of flowers remembrances can be made to St. Michael the Archangel Anglican Church of Fresno, California in the name of Alice Tarailo.

Interment will be private.
