Aline Goddard Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Major Family Funeral Home of Oakridge on Dec. 13, 2025.
Aline Goddard was born Aline Coward on July 9th, 1936 in DeRidder, Louisiana. Aline was born to parents William Alonzo and Ava Angeline Watson Coward. Aline was one of twelve children including a twin sister named Adele.
After graduating high school, Aline took a job with AT&T working as a telephone operator in Oakridge, OR. In Oakridge, Aline met and married Joseph Goddard, a tree planter with the forest service. The couple enjoyed playing golf, camping and even served as live-in caretakers at Green Waters Park in Oakridge for a period of time in the 1970s.
In 1965, Aline gave birth to a daughter Gayle. Unfortunately Gayle passed away in 1975 after a long battle with leukemia. In 1976, Aline gave birth to another daughter, Nancy.
Aline enjoyed taking summer-long road trips. The family tent camped along the way as they explored National parks, roadside attractions and visited family in the Midwest and the Southern US.
Aline worked for the telephone company for several decades. Aline also worked as a florist at Midway Gardens and later as a transportation manager for medical rides. She also served for many years on the Oakridge city council.
Aline was always very active in church and her faith was of the upmost importance to her. She had a green thumb and a love of flowers, growing them and decorating with them.
Aline loved the town of Oakridge and lived here for nearly 60 years. It was difficult for her to leave her community in 2023 when she to move to an assisted living facility in Cottage Grove, OR. Aline moved to a care home in Hillsboro, OR in November, 2025 after fracturing her back in a fall. Aline passed peacefully away on December 10, 2025 at her care home.
Aline is survived by daughter Nancy Lammers, son-n-law Peter Lammers, grandchildren Ren and Mila Lammers,
brothers George Coward, of California, Robert Coward, of Mississippi; sisters, Jean Martin, and Arlene Christensen, of Texas. Her husband Joseph Goddard, daughter Gayle Goddard, brothers Irvin Coward, James Coward, Connie Coward, Donnie Watson and sisters Louise Juchartz, Adele Parson and Frances Bertrand passed before her.
