Aline Kraemer Wallace ObituaryAline Kraemer Wallace passed away peacefully at her home in
Willoughby, Ohio, on July 4, 2025, at the age of 98. Born on March 22, 1927, in Brooklyn, New York, Aline lived a life rich in love, service, and devotion to her family and community.
She grew up in Southern California and loved to play in the surf and was active in sports. She attended Antioch College and the University of Southern California, where she was a member of the sorority Kappa Kappa Gamma. She met her husband at a ski lodge in Germany on New Years Eve of 1951. As he was a native Clevelander, they made their home and raised their family in Lyndhurst, then Moreland Hills, OH.
While raising her children, she remained an active volunteer at the Sight Center in Buffalo, Anderson School, Laurel School, Hillcrest Hospital, Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, Children's Guild, and the Orange Senior Center.
She avidly played tennis and enjoyed needlepointing into her nineties. Aline and Jim travelled the world and she meticulously documented their adventures, recorded in picture albums, that family poured over together during Christmas gatherings. With a sparkle in her eye and a glass of bourbon in her hand, she loved to entertain friends and guests from around the world.
Aline was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Chelsie Kraemer (née Final), and her brother, William F. Kraemer.
Survivors include her husband of 72.5 years, James C. Wallace, along with her children: J. Lee (Diane) Wallace, Cincinnati; Chelsie W. (Don) Levitan, Tallahassee; and Craig C. Wallace (Kate McAndrews), Columbus. Aline found immense joy in each of her grandchildren: Karen W. (Mike) Ottenweller, James C. (Natalie) Allen Wallace, Bryan C. (Beth) Wallace, Samantha W. (Jeff) Eldersveld, Jeremy W. Levitan, Jennifer N. Wallace (Steven Knoll), Keeha E. Levitan, Andrew C. (Kelly) Wallace and also her great-grandchildren: Jack, Noah and Grant Ottenweller; Henry and Jake Sharpe; Lana and Hans Eldersveld; Jaxson and Mia Wallace; and Finn Allen Wallace.
Aline's legacy is one of grace, compassion, and quiet strength. She loved her family fiercely and received it in return. She will be remembered for her kind spirit, her unwavering support of her loved ones, and the meaningful difference she made in the lives of so many.
Private services were held in her honor. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to The Children's Guild in Aline's memory.
Arrangements were handled by the McMahon-Coyne-Vitantonio Funeral Home.
