Allan LeRoy Chapman, 81, of Parkersburg, peacefully passed away on July 7, 2024 at WVU Camden Clark Medical Center. He was born April 5, 1943, a son to the late Roy A. and Mary M. Baker Chapman.
He was a 1961 graduate from Rome – Canaan High School. He is a U.S. Army veteran, proudly serving our country through the Vietnam War, and then retiring from Dupont after 32 years. He was involved with the VFW 1212, AMVETS Post 34, DAV, American Legion Post 15, the Moose Club, and the Fraternal Order of Eagles. Along with spending time with his family, he enjoyed bowling, softball, and basketball.
Those left to honor his memory include his loving wife of 40 years, Barbara Ann Nesselroad Chapman; three daughters, Kimberly Hedrick of Virginia, Laurel Chapman (Rob Eltzroth) of Virginia, and Amy Diehl (Wesley) of Parkersburg; one son, Brent Conger (Kerry) of Mineral Wells; a sister, Kathy Myers of South Carolina; seven grandchildren, Chase Conger, Ciara Thomas (Gabe), Mary Nolan (Jordon), Rylan Lewis, Spencer and Colton Hedrick (Summer), and Logan Eltzroth; and four great-grandchildren, Leah and Lily Thomas, August Hedrick, and Rory Nolan.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his son-in-law, Buddy Hedrick; and a sister, Dorothy Golden.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM, Saturday, July 13, 2024 at Lambert Tatman Funeral Home, Green St. Parkersburg, with Pastor Edward Craft officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens with full military rites. Family will accept visitors from 10 AM – 1 PM on Saturday at the funeral home.
Family wishes to thank the nurses at CCMC 5 North, Kim Crum, and Dr. Gabriella Olson for their kindness and caring.
