Jacklyn (Jackie) Houston Chapman passed peacefully from this mortal life on July 11, 2025, at the age of 91. She was born March 6, 1934, in St. George, Utah, the second child of John Lemuel and Bell Dora Hunt Houston, and was raised in the quiet town of Mesquite, Nevada.

Jackie’s early years were filled with music, faith, and family. A gifted musician, she learned to play piano at a young age and was often found at the keys accompanying church services while her mother led the congregation in song. Her musical talents extended to the flute, which she continued to play throughout her life, bringing beauty and reverence to many gatherings—including those in her beloved church congregation in Dolan Springs, Arizona.

On April 24, 1955, Jackie married the love of her life, Conrad King Chapman. Together, they built a life of love, laughter, and shared adventure. They welcomed three sons to their family: Gregory Allen, Dean Bryant, and Conrad Nolan. Jackie’s strength was tested with the heartbreaking loss of her eldest son, Gregory, in 1982, yet she remained a pillar of grace and fortitude for her family.

Jackie was a woman ahead of her time. Holding a commercial driver’s license, she joined her husband on the road, driving long-haul routes across the country as a team—an experience that reflected both her adventurous spirit and her steadfast partnership with Conrad.

Above all else, Jackie cherished her role as mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She leaves behind a loving legacy through her sons, Dean (Shirley Arlene) and Nolan, her grandchildren, Raven Chapman and Cody Chapman (Abigail), and her great-grandson, Camden Dean Chapman. Her influence, steady love, and quiet strength live on in them.

Jackie is preceded in death by her husband, Conrad; her son, Gregory; her parents; and her brothers, Alton John and Perry Lavon Houston. She is survived by her sister, Nita Iverson (Max), and brother, Fredie Marion Houston (Michele), as well as many nieces, nephews, and extended family members who will continue to honor her memory.

Jackie will be remembered for her unwavering faith, her kind and generous heart, her musical gifts, and her enduring strength. A life well-lived and a woman well-loved—Jackie will be deeply missed by all who were blessed to know her.

The Houston family wants to extend a heartfelt thank you to Dean and Arlene Chapman for the incredible love and care you showed your mother. Your kindness and dedication made a profound difference in her life, and we genuinely appreciate all the sacrifices and effort you made. Your support made her last years so much easier and filled with warmth. We are truly grateful for everything you did!
