Magdalen “Sandy” Rueda, 82 years old, of Las Vegas, passed away on July 12, 2025 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Sandy was born in Saginaw, Michigan to Antoinette Sanchez and Joseph Duran on April 16, 1943. She attended St. Joseph Catholic School in Saginaw up to the 8th grade when she left school to care for her younger siblings. She spent several summers in Galveston, Texas visiting her grandpa, aunts and cousins. On May 25, 1962, Sandy married Albert Raphael Rueda in Saginaw, Michigan and began a family of her own. She remained active in the St. Joseph congregation and made sure her children were taught in the Catholic faith.
In 1978 Sandy moved her family to Anaheim, California to start a new life. In California
Sandy held a few different jobs but her favorite job was as a Bilingual Instructional Aide at an elementary school in Santa Ana, Ca. In the 1980s Sandy and Albert began missionary work in Mexico where they went several times a year taking food and clothes to residents of a village in the northern part of Mexico. In 2000 Sandy moved to Las Vegas to assist her son Albert in raising his two children. Throughout her life, Sandy’s faith in God and love for her family were her north star, guiding everything she did. Sandy was proud of her Mexican heritage and shared that love and pride with her children, ensuring that her children knew their culture.
Sandy is preceded in death by her husband Albert Rueda, son Raymond Michael Rueda, grandson Jonathan Joseph Navarro, siblings Ronnie Duran, Roy Duran, John Duran, Toni Ann Jamie, and her mother Antionette and father Joseph.
Sandy is survived by her children Teresa Rueda, Anita (Angel) Coronado, Victoria (Ken) Rueda and Albert Joseph Rueda, her grandchildren, Daniel (Kelly) Rueda, Gabriel Fister, Jimmy (Stephanie) Ramirez, Isaac (Brianne) Ramirez, Richard (Sarah) Coronado, Viviana Navarro, Christine (David) Navarro, Adrian Rueda, and Desirae Rueda, and several great-Grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings Louie (Lynne) Verdusco and Mary (David) Ornelas, many Nieces, Nephews, Cousins, and Godchildren.
A Celebration of Sandy’s Life will be held on Saturday, August, 23, 2025 at 11:00am at Three Cord Ministries with Pastor Randy Fitzgerald officiating. Arrangements by Sandy’s children.
The family of Sandy wishes to extend sincere thanks to Maria, Lucy, Wedy, Regina, Yvette, Lexi, Angela and all the other angels at Canyon Vista Post Acute.
