Allan W. Evans

Allan Wheatley Evans charted his final course on October 31, 2025 at the age of 70, leaving behind his loving wife of 40 years, Angela. Born on July 16, 1955, in Norfolk, Virginia, Allan grew up in a region surrounded by the ocean and steeped in history. It was here that his passions began to develop and flourish: surfing, scuba diving, fishing, weight lifting, and an insatiable thirst for knowledge. Allan contained multitudes: a barefoot philosopher, an ocean-going scholar, and a stern-but-tender friend to both men and mallards.
Allan's life was a beautiful exploration of the world, from diving into uncharted caves to listening to autobiographies of the great explorers while he meticulously measured the PH of his orchid garden soil.
We will miss his brilliant mind, his off-kilter insights, and his deep love for family and friends. Allan was a natural storyteller, sharing his knowledge of everything from history to nuclear physics, and making jokes along the way.
He took pride in everything he did, from building peanut plants in Texas and nuclear ships in Virginia Beach, to his daily duck feeding ritual, exercising daily, and grilling hamburgers on Friday nights for Angela.
Friends and family will gather to honor Allan's life and legacy during a memorial service at Lynnhaven Chapel on November 4, 2025, at 2:00 PM. Attendees are invited to share in the celebration of a man who touched so many lives and whose absence will be deeply felt by all who knew him.
Allan was preceded in death by his parents, Allan Winton Evans and Doris Wheatley Evans.
In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes donations to charities that support Allan's values.
