Devoted husband and father, Allan J. George, 88, of Convent Station, passed away on Monday, February 13, 2023, in the loving care of his daughter, son, and wife of sixty-seven years.
Prior to retirement, he had been employed throughout his long career as a Chemical Engineer, most notably with Research Cottrell and Carpenter Steel, and working well into his 80s as a consultant with Spig Cooling Tower Systems. In his younger years, Allan was an avid tennis player and longtime member of the Knights of Columbus. In his later years, he found joy in riding his bike and stopping to speak with his many friends and neighbors.
Mr. George was predeceased by his cherished parents: James and Amelia (nee Mameo) George, and four close-knit brothers and sisters. He is survived by his loving and caring wife, Barbara (nee Wood) George, his devoted sons, Jeff and Mark; his beloved daughter, Melanie; his dear sister, Helen, and by his cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the The Knights of Columbus, 13 South Street, Morristown, NJ 07960 (www.koc359.org) would be preferred and appreciated.

I did not know until recently that Allan had passed away. What a great, warm, and affectionate man. We used to see him at The Bakery in Morristown. He always went out of his way to make everyone feel better. I wish I had known sooner. Glenn Montgomery

Allan was lots of fun. He used to "hold court" in the early hours of the morning at the McDonalds on Ridgedale Ave. in East Hanover with a fair number of other seniors and a few middle-aged folks who came in to hear their antics. It was a diverse crowd which was funnier than any episode of "Barney Miller" or "Taxi," and often as surreal. He was a people magnet, to be sure. I miss him dearly.

We moved to Old Glen 10 years ago. Al was consistently a joy to call my neighbor. He treated us like family all throughout. From his friendly hellos, help with all things local, or simply a pleasant weekend chat, he really did make this feel like home for us. A tremendous man who will be dearly missed. Sending love from the Moebius family.
