When I was baptized, my Uncle Allan (and Uncle Steven) drove several hours to attend and assist in the confirmation. I remember being so touched that he would care enough about an 8-year-old boy to drive all the way to attend this event to support me. As I grew up, I was always amazed at the accomplishments Uncle Allan had achieved, and his actions inspired me to expand my horizons and professional aspirations. Part of what I was able to achieve scholastically in life can be directly attributed to the example of my Uncle Allan, and I most grateful for that example, and the other ways he has inspired me, both directly and indirectly, to be a better person.

It was our good fortune to be neighbors to Allan and Kaye for many years. Allan served our family as bishop and we served with both Allan and Kaye in a University Stake. Behind a humble persona, Allan was a man of great brilliance, wisdom and accomplishment who always deflected praise and attention. If you could follow Allan’s kind and wise example, you would find yourself in the right place. Kaye, you and your family are in our prayers. We hope good memories will help you through this difficult time.

I was blessed to be the home teacher of the Steeds for about 10 years. I was always welcome in their home and loved being there to visit with them and to hear about the accomplishments of their children. Allan will continue to bless others, this time from the other side of the veil, as he continues to enjoy and learn about the heavens. I pray that Kaye will be comforted in his absence.

Allan was a great friend and mentor to me personally. We go back many, many years when we were in school. He provided me with wonderful professional opportunities and was the most sincere person I have ever known. I will miss him dearly, especially his friendship and kind words whenever we spoke. We shred many experiences on the RAMOS program and together on 9/11 in the Pentagon Annex. Heaven will be a better place now, but we will dearly miss him. Our prayers and thoughts are with Kaye and family.
