Allen grew up and graduated in Chisholm, MN. Afterwards he joined the Army to serve his country. Allen was stationed in California and Alaska and enjoyed living in those areas while he served. He returned home to Chisholm after his time in the Army to work in the mining industry, specifically the Sherman and MinTac mine until retirement. Allen loved the outdoors from boating, fishing and camping. He especially loved going to Cran Lake and Kettle Falls. Allen and his brother Joe invented and patented the Boat Mate which they sold many years later. Allen loved the 50's and 60's music and appreciated the cars that were built in that era.
Allen is survived by his nieces; Sherri (Don) Snidarich, Debbie Dren, June (Frank Trombly) Dren, Wendy (Scott) Suhonen, Tina (Eric) Hubbard, Alonna (Andrew) Malone, and nephew Joseph (Amy) Dren.
He is preceded in death by his parents Alice and Joe Dren, brothers, Roger and Joe Dren.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Rupp Funeral Home on Thursday, March 12, 2026, from 12:00 PM – 1:30 PM.
In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to Fairview Home Care and Hospice.
