Allen Nash Obituary

Published by Legacy on Oct. 17, 2025.
In loving memory of Allen Frank Nash, age 81, who passed away peacefully on October 15, 2025, in Ocala, Florida.
Allen was born on January 4, 1944, in Jacksonville, FL, the third child of Henry Nash and Aldria Delories King Nash.
Allen Nash was a natural leader, teacher and loved his friends and family fiercely. His compassion and kindness brought him into the loving clutches of Wilma Anne King Nash and they were married in Newburgh, New York on June 5, 1965. Allen and Wilma remained married for the next 60 years.
Allen Nash valued education and exemplified it through his accomplishments. He graduated from Stanton Senior High School in 1961, then served in the U.S. Air Force as a Communications Center Specialist until 1966. Allen later earned an Associate's from Florida Junior College (1972), a bachelor's in political science and public administration from the University of North Florida (1975), and a master's in management and Supervision from Central Michigan University (1980). Allen Nash was also a graduate of the 174th Session of the Federal Bureau of Investigation's National Academy in Quantico, VA. (1993) in Police Administration & Labor Relations.
Allen Nash began his career with the Department of Business and Professional Regulation, Division of Alcoholic Beverages and Tobacco in 1968, serving for three decades until he retired in 1998. He achieved groundbreaking promotions within the agency, becoming the first Black man appointed as Sargeant, Commander and Captain, Major and eventually retiring as the first Black Chief in its history.
Allen Nash excelled at sharing knowledge, explaining complex ideas clearly, and summarizing outcomes briefly. He guided others toward their goals and celebrated their successes. His personal interests were writing, sports, and electronics.
Allen Nash's memory will always be treasured by his devoted wife, Wilma Anne King Nash; his children, Nicole M. Nash (Cliff), Angela D. Sherman, and Daryl L. Quaintance; grandchildren, Cornell Shuford Jr. (Toni), Jarvis L. Nash, Jade M. Maragh, and Allen M. Maragh; and his siblings, Barbara Watkins (Jasper), Deborah Powell, and Mark Nash (Aberdeen). He was predeceased by his daughter, Serena Nash (d.1991), and brothers Henry Nash and Winston Nash. Allen Nash was a source of strength, protection, and wisdom for those around him. Anyone lucky enough to hear his jokes or receive his advice likely found themselves carrying those lessons forward throughout their own lives.
