Allen Daniel Woodward
A lifelong resident of California, Allen sadly passed away unexpectedly at home in Palm Desert on Monday April 21, 2025. Allen was 54 years old.
Allen was born in 1971, in the city of Laguna Beach to parents Dan and Pat Woodward. He was the 2nd child in the family after sister Shelly. He spent his early childhood years in San Juan Capistrano, where he enjoyed exploring local parks, and beaches with his family.
His family moved north to Madera where Allen attended elementary and high school. He loved biking, swimming, and playing with several family cats and dogs. There were memorable family outings in the local Sierra mountains to boat, hike and camp. As a teen, he swam and played waterpolo at Madera High School.
Allen attended Merced Jr College, where he continued to play waterpolo and received his AA degree. He then attended college at San Francisco State University, to study the Arts.
Allen served in the Army, where he was stationed at Fort Cambell, Ky. He returned to southern California where he lived and worked in Newport Beach and Costa Mesa.
Allen worked at a variety of jobs over the years from lifeguard, bank teller, film extra, waiter to custom wood and metal crafting. He spent many years doing restaurant work, including several National Parks in the western states. He settled in Palm Desert to be with his mother Pat after his father Dan's untimely passing. He was very proud of his nephew Grant and was a fun Uncle.
Allen's special interests included a passion for creating food, listening and playing eclectic music, watching movies/tv, hiking, and biking.
Allen's family include his mother Pat, his father Dan (pre-deceased), his sister Shelly, brother-in- law Mark (pre-deceased), his nephew Grant who will greatly miss him. He also leaves aunts, an uncle, many cousins, and friends who will also miss him.
