Allison "Allie" Kay Dahl

November 1, 1966 - January 12, 2026

Allison Kay Dahl's favorite drink was something she called the "Allie Special." It was half diet Coke and half diet Dr. Pepper with easy cherry and easy vanilla. She would request this tasty beverage at Swig and Sonic and was always hoping that they would add it to their drink menu. It hasn't happened yet, but it's never too late. This drink, like our sister Allie, will always be a favorite.

Allie hated her birthday being on November 1, the day after Halloween, because she said that people were too tired after trick-or treating to remember it. But for us, her family, we always remembered and celebrated her life!

Allison, the fourth child born to Grant and Latrelle Dahl, was born in Murray, Utah. Mama loved Allie's smooth olive baby skin and beautiful dark hair.

As a smart little girl, Allie loved reading and excelled at school. Mama insisted that Allie take piano lessons, and so at a young age, she learned to love music and singing.

As a proud graduate of Jordan High School, class of 1985 (Go Beetdiggers!), Allie marked her place in her class as editor of the school newspaper, sophomore and senior class president. College bound, Allie studied Human Resource Management at Utah State University, and was proud to earn her degree and the distinguished title of "True Aggie." While at USU, Allie worked as a resident advisor for campus housing for many years, enjoying the perks of having her own apartment and free food at the Junction. She loved her Aggies, or Shaggies, as Allie called them and continued to follow their football and basketball games to the end.

Allie served an honorable mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to Auckland New Zealand, falling in love with the people and the culture of the country. When Allie turned 50, she returned to her beloved New Zealand and visited the area again where she had served. She was a believer of the gospel of Jesus Christ, and her powerful prayers always touched hearts.

In her professional life, Allie worked in finance, health, and human resources. Most of her career was spent "on the phone," as she always said. Though she didn't always like her jobs, she would proudly state that she gave "good phone." Later, Allie achieved her goal of earning her MBA at Westminster College.

Always hoping to have her own family, Allie had a brief marriage to Obi Ikeako, and warmly welcomed his children into her heart and home.

Allie's world revolved around her family. Because she loved them so fiercely, she never hesitated to defend them. Her words were as strong as her love was for them. As a fun-loving and supportive aunt, Allie taught her nephews about blue darts and regularly attended her nieces' recitals and plays.

Proud of the Dahl family's pioneer heritage and her crazy Southern cousins' conversion to the gospel of Jesus Christ, Allie loved and honored her family's legacy.

When she could, Allie would travel. She enjoyed many trips to Bear Lake, Jackson Hole, Disneyland, the Black Hills, the South, New England, the West Coast, and Minnesota. Cruising was also something Allie loved, traveling to Alaska, Mexico, the Pacific coastline, and the Mediterranean.

A born counselor, Allie helped family and friends during times of challenge with wise counsel, a listening ear, and encouragement. She knew how to validate others with words and support.

Allie loved crazy movies on Lifetime, pretzels with sharp cheese, Broadway musicals, college football, going to the movies and eating popcorn with extra butter, a good sleep, her fur babies, and playing slots on her phone.

Not only will we miss Allie's mac-n-cheese at Thanksgiving, we will especially miss her undying love and support for all of us, her family, her best friends.

So, next time you go to Swig or Sonic, ask for the Allie Special. It just might be on the menu.

Allison is preceded in death by her parents (Grant and Latrelle Dahl), her brother Scott Dahl, her niece MiLee Smedshammer, and her fur babies Dixie, Jackson, and Magnolia. She is survived by her brother Jim (Carol) Dahl; sister-in-law Machelle Dahl; sisters Sandra (Richard) Weeks, and Wendy (David) Smedshammer; nephews and nieces: Grant (Jasmine) Dahl, Andy (Tiva Rickers) Dahl, Travis (Michelle) Dahl, Tyler (McKalle) Dahl, Evan Dahl, Aubrey Dahl, Aspen (Jessica Waylon), KarLee (Jesse) Warburton, RyLee (Fabrizzio) Burga, SaLee (Ethan Wilcox), and great nephews and nieces: Maili, Kiera, Amelia, Peyton, Patrick, Lilly, Maddie, Ronan, Konrad

A viewing will be held on Tuesday, January 20, at 10:00 AM with a celebration of life at 11:00 AM at Larkin Sunset Gardens Funeral Home (1960 E. Dimple Dell Road). Interment at Larkin Sunset Gardens.
