Alma Will Reader Robbins, 96, of West Winfield, passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of her family on Tuesday, November 21, 2023 at Wynn Hospital in Utica.
She was born on July 20, 1927 in West Winfield, NY a daughter of the late John Adam and Teresa Lorenz Will. She graduated from West Winfield Central School in June, 1945 and Cortland State Teachers College, January 1949. She did graduate work at Oneonta State Teachers College and Syracuse University. She taught at Harvey Alter, Rome, NY from January 1949 to June 1949. She taught at Freeville Central School 1949 – 1950, Waterville Central School part-time 1952-1954, and West Winfield Central Schools from 1955 until she retired from Mt. Markham Central School in 1996 after teaching for 30 years.
Alma was a member of Order of Eastern Star, NYS Retired Teachers, and West Winfield Garden Club for many years, and former member of Cedar Lake Club. For many years she was involved with the Junior Golf Program at Cedar Lake.
She was united in marriage to Robert Arthur Reader on July 1, 1949 at St. James Episcopal Church in Clinton, he passed away in September of 1994. On January 11, 1997 Alma was united in marriage to William H. Robbins of Fayetteville, NY. They resided in West Winfield and Hobe Sound, Florida.
She is survived by her sons, Robert and Julie Reader of West Winfield, and Jeffrey and Rhonda Reader of E. Syracuse; her grandchildren, Heather and Rob Eggleston, Aaron and Caprice Reader, Bryan, and Kyle Reader and great grandchildren, Reed and Vivienne Eggleston.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of life service for Mrs. Robbins on Friday, December 1, 2023 at 2:00 PM at the Dimbleby Funeral Homes Inc. 365 West Main St in West Winfield with Pastor Ken McKenzie officiating. Interment will be in the West Winfield Cemetery. There will be a reception at the funeral home immediately following the service.
