Walter J. Grosfent, 76, of Plainfield, passed away on Saturday, December 2, 2023 at Bassett Healthcare in Cooperstown.
He was born on May 18, 1947 in Utica, a son of the late Harold and Ida (Hubbard) Grosfent and was educated in Leonardsville schools. Walter was employed as a farm hand with the Ward Family Farm for over 30 years and then with Century Corner Farms with James Johnson until his retirement.
He enjoyed taking care of his property, especially mowing the lawn. Walter took pride in maintaining his equipment and tinkering with his lawn mowers. He was an avid hunter, spending many hours in the woods on his family's farm.
Surviving are his son, Harold (Becky) Grosfent, Plainfield; grandchildren, Nichole (Ryan Makuch) Grosfent and Courtnee (Amos Edgington) Grosfent and great grandchildren, Emily, Breanna, Elizabeth, Makala, Joshua and Theodora. He was predeceased by a brother, John.
Walter's family wishes to extend their gratitude to the West Winfield EMT Services and the nurses and doctors at Bassett Medical Center.
Relatives and friends are invited to visitation on Thursday from 4-6 pm at Dimbleby Funeral Homes, Inc., 365 West Main St., West Winfield. Burial will be in Leonardsville Cemetery.
