Almeda Faye (Marsh) Mackey was born on September 9, 1951, to Donald William Marsh and Metra Almeda (Gibson) Marsh in Chickasha, Oklahoma. She passed from this life on December 17, 2024, at the age of 73.
Almeda was a graduate of the Fort Cobb High School class of 1969. She married her high school sweetheart Stan Mackey, on December 22, 1969. To this union was born one daughter, Andrena Almeda. Together they celebrated forty-nine years before his passing on April 28, 2019.
Almeda took pride in being a homemaker, wife, mother, and grandmother (Meme). During the early years of marriage, she worked to help put Stan through pharmacy school. Later after Stan graduated and they eventually settled back in Fort Cobb, she worked at Stan's Pharmacy's in Fort Cobb and then Anadarko. Almeda was a member of the First Baptist Church in Fort Cobb.
Almeda didn't like to cook, but enjoyed decorating her home especially for holidays throughout the year. She was a prolific collector of unicorns and a lover of all things yellow. She spoke her mind and loved deeply. She loved sweets and shopping, but most of all her family. Her daughter was her whole world. She spent her life focusing on the time she could spend with her family. She spoiled her grandkids and loved to show her support by attending various school functions when she was able. There was nothing that could compare to the love she had for her family and she will be greatly missed.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Andrena Higgins and husband Joel of Edmond, grandchildren, Alexia and Kyler Higgins of Edmond, sister, Donna Iams of Fort Cobb, and numerous nieces, nephews, and in-laws.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Donald and Metra Marsh, and her husband, Stan Mackey.
Visitation for Almeda is Friday, December 20, 2024, from 5:00 – 7:00 PM, Saturday, December 21, 2024, from 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM., and Sunday, December 22, 2024, from 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM at the Fort Cobb Funeral Home Chapel.
The funeral service is at 3:00 PM on Sunday, December 22, 2024, at the Fort Cobb Funeral Home Chapel. She will be laid to rest at the Fort Cobb Cemetery in Fort Cobb, Oklahoma at a later date.
Services are under the direction of Fort Cobb Funeral Home in Fort Cobb, Oklahoma.
