Aloysius "Al" Koszewski was born on July 8, 1941 in Detroit to Aloysius and Cecilia Koszewski. Al passed away on August 5, 2025 at the age of 84. Al honorably served his country in the United States Army for 3 years. While in the service Al achieved the army sharpshooter badge for both rifle and carbine as well as the Army's Missleman badge. Al was discharged from active duty in February of 1962 achieving the rank of Private First Class. After serving his country with honor, Al utilized the US Army Gl Bill and enrolled in classes at the University of Detroit. While working, he received his Bachelor's degree from U of D. Al began a 40 year career in the food manufacturing industry with Peschke's Meat Packing Company of Detroit, the home of the "Great American Hot Dog". Al worked at Peschke's for several years until they closed in the early 1980's. He then continued his career as a Plant Manager at General Spice Company in Detroit, and then ended his career at Asmus Spice in Clinton Township. That didn't deter Al from celebrating many of life's other joys with his family and large group of friends. Al was heavily involved in sports. You could often find him on a softball field as a player and as a team manager (sometimes both at the same time) being heavily involved in leagues in Sterling Heights and then in Shelby Township. Al was also deeply involved in the Senior Olympics competing in field sports until he chose not to compete any longer. Al had a deep love for the University of Michigan's football program as a 35 year season ticket holder. Al's cheering voice was also ever present on the sidelines at the games of all of his kids, grandkids, nieces, nephews, and others. Al and his wife Gerri were also deeply involved in their beloved St. Isidore Catholic Church. Al was a loved member of the Knights of Columbus at St. Isidore, as well as a member of the Usher's Club. Parishioners will remember Al fondly as the 'humorous usher at 7:30 morning Mass'. Along with this humorous side, Al was forever trying to get folks around him to laugh. Whether it was answering the phone in a foreign accent or pretending to be someone who he wasn't, Al's love of laughter preceded him wherever he went or with whomever he was with. Al is the beloved husband of 60 years of Gerri. Loving father of Kip (Brigid) Koszewski, Cindi (Eric) Amey, Jaclyn (Michael) Cadieux, and the late Debbie McConkey. Dearest father in law of Dave McConkey. Very proud Grandpa and Papa of Nicholas and Cecilia Koszewski, the late Garrett Amey, Abigail and Gwen McConkey, and Evan and Chloe Cadieux. Dear brother of Barbara (the late Mike) Madak. Visitation Sunday 1-8 PM with a 7 PM Scripture service at the Wasik Funeral Home, Inc. 49150 Schoenherr Rd. (n. of 22 Mile Rd.), Shelby Twp. Instate Monday 9 AM until 10 AM Funeral Mass at St. Isidore Catholic Church 18201 23 Mile Road (Corner of Romeo Plank), Macomb Twp. Interment Resurrection Cemetery, Clinton Township.
