(Alta) Eileen Baird, nee Nichols, 83, passed away peacefully in her home on July 26, 2025, in Sandwich, Illinois.
She was born on March 30, 1942, in Kewanee, Illinois to Eugene and Virginia Nichols. Known as Eileen her entire life, she grew up in Toulon, Illinois, graduating from Toulon High School in 1960. She received her Bachelor's degree and teaching certificate from Illinois State University in 1964 and later completed a Master's of Education degree from National-Louis University. Eileen dedicated her life to education and learning. A lifelong teacher, she spent her life shaping young minds in the classroom. Before retirement, she spent the last two decades of her career at Sandwich High School, where she left a lasting impact on students and colleagues alike.
She is survived by her children: Natalie Baird of Sandwich and Laura (Kevin) Collins of Waterman; her grandchildren: Brandi Schultz (Trevor Davy) of Leland, Garrett Baird of Leland, Brandon Clark of Normal, and Carissa Clark of Waterman; her great-grandchildren: Levi Davy and Iona Davy.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Eugene and Virginia Nichols, her sister: Nancy (Charles) Faso, and her grandson Austin Clark.
Private arrangements will be held to honor Eileen's life and the many lives she touched through her dedication to education and kindness.
May her memory bring comfort to those who knew and loved her.
