Alvin G. Meyer, 88, a resident of Seymour, CT, passed away on January 19, 2025, peacefully at home surrounded by his family.
Alvin was born on September 9, 1936, in Baltimore, MD, the son of the late Theodore H. Meyer and Emma Jahne Meyer. He graduated from The College of the City of New York with a Bachelor’s of Mechanical Engineering and The University of Bridgeport with a Master’s of Science in Mechanical Engineering.
Alvin worked as a Mechanical Gear Engineer for Avco Lycoming 40 years. He was the co-owner of Precision Gear Works, Inc. for 3 years. He enjoyed golfing, skiing, traveling and spending time with his family. He was a member of the American Gear Manufacturers Association, a volunteer at the Connecticut Air & Space Center in Stratford, CT, and was an active member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church.
Alvin is survived by his children Michelle Damon, Brian (Bernice) Meyer, and Jeff (Ruth) Meyer, and three step-sons Robert E. (Cindy) Cadoret, Daniel J. (Donna) Cadoret and James M. (Leslie) Cadoret; his grandchildren, Christopher Damon, Jessica Silva, Melissa Richardone, Kyle and Andrew Meyer, Megan Meyer Elenburg , Kaity, Kenny, Ashley, Noelle, Jake, and a great-granddaughter Brooke and several nieces and nephews. Alvin is predeceased by his wife Yvonne Pizone Meyer, his wife Carol Cadoret Meyer and brother Theodore E. Meyer.
Family and friends will be received on Monday, January 27, 2025, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Miller Macari Family Funeral Home, 260 Bank Street, Seymour CT 06483. A funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, January 28, 2025, 11 a.m., at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 25 Great Hill Road, Oxford, CT 06478. Burial will immediately follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 1056 Daniels Farm Road, Trumbull, CT 06611.
