Alvin Niederwimmer Obituary

Alvin John Henry Niederwimmer, 94, of Sedalia, died Monday, January 27, 2025.

He was born June 1, 1930, in Russellville, MO, one of three children of the late Martin and Margaret (Strobel) Niederwimmer.

Alvin was raised on a farm in Russellville, MO and was a 1948 Graduate of Russellville High School.

On January 27, 1956, he married Dorothy Mae Wills, of Sedalia, MO, who preceded him in death October 22, 2017.

In 1963, Alvin and Dorothy built a house in Sedalia where they lived for over 60 years. Alvin was a Master Carpenter in the Sedalia area until he retired in 1992. When Alvin retired, he turned to his passion and became a mechanic, he worked on numerous lawnmowers and other items over the years. He especially had a fondness for John Deere lawnmowers. As Dorothy noted, Alvin was a carpenter by trade and a mechanic by choice. Alvin was a patient teacher, always willing to pass his knowledge to others. Alvin was a Good Samaritan, always wanting to help others in need and never asking for anything in return.

Alvin is survived by three sons, John Niederwimmer and his wife Sharyl, of Springfield, MO; Mark Niederwimmer and his wife Diana, of Sedalia MO; Kevin Niederwimmer and his wife Sandy, of Rhode Island; two grandchildren, Ryan Niederwimmer of Sedalia, MO; Kirsten (Niederwimmer) Rodeghero of Waterman, IL and four great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Carl Niederwimmer and his sister Lydia Winkler.

Funeral service will begin at 11:00 am, Saturday, February 1, 2025 at Heckart Funeral Home with Rev. Jeremy Freeman officiating.

Visitation will be from 10:00 am until service time at the funeral home.

Burial will be in Highland Sacred Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to Good Samaritan Care Center, in care of Heckart Funeral Home.

Your dad was a kind man and a good friend to my dad. I'll always remember our Christ Lutheran days! God's peace.

My thoughts and prayers are with you all at this sad time. It was my honor to have known Alvin and always enjoyed our conversations at the office including about John Deere mowers when he was trying to get me off the topic I had in mind. He was very proud of his family and know he will be greatly missed but can only imagine the joyous reunion he had with your mom.
With sympathy,
Joy Gronstedt, DO
