Alvin Smith Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Miles J. Kimble Mortuary & Cremation on Jan. 6, 2026.
Mr. Alvin Smith, age 75, of Palestine, Arkansas, peacefully transitioned from this life on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, at 10:15 a.m., at Forrest City Medical Center in Forrest City, Arkansas.

Mr. Smith was born on March 7, 1950, in Palestine, Arkansas, to the late Elounzo Smith and Susie Ann Gray Smith. He attended school in Palestine, Arkansas, before entering the workforce. He dedicated many years of faithful service to Airtherm Manufacturing Company, now known as Mestek, where he worked until his retirement.

On April 23, 1982, he was united in holy matrimony to Ellar Mae Patton, and together they shared many years of love and companionship.

Mr. Smith accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior and was baptized at Union Hill Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor R. L. Nelson.

In his leisure time, he enjoyed cooking and was well known for making his own homemade sauce. He also enjoyed gardening, welding, and watching television, especially classic westerns, with Gunsmoke being his favorite.

Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers and sister, Charles Smith, Bobby Smith, Roy Smith, Leodis Smith, and Magnolia Jackson; and one child, Christopher Smith.

He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife of the home, Ellar Mae Patton Smith of Palestine, Arkansas; one son, Alvin Smith, Jr. of Jonesboro, Arkansas; grandson, Jaymen Smith of Forrest City, Arkansas; brothers and sisters, Lonzo Smith of Palestine, Arkansas, Lorene Brewster of Detroit, Michigan, Wavene Smith of Palestine, Arkansas, Dolly Smith Forte of Little Rock, Arkansas, and Willie (Ann) Smith of Los Angeles, California; along with a host of brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
