Erik L. Smith

Erik L. Smith, 52, passed away suddenly on February 4, 2026.

Born in Berwick, PA, Erik was raised in the Philadelphia area, and graduated from Church Farm School in Exton, PA. In 1999, he moved to New Jersey after meeting the love of his life, Kristin Johnson. The two married in 2002 and built their home and family together in Deptford, NJ.

Erik spent more than a decade as an Insurance Executive with the Barclay Group in Riverton, NJ. Outside of work, he was a passionate Philadelphia Eagles fan and looked forward to his weekly Wednesday Night Gaming Group with close friends. He also enjoyed playing Disc Golf and spending time outdoors.

Above all, Erik's greatest joy was his family. He cherished creating traditions with his daughters-ice cream on the first day of spring, Donut Fridays, and annual trips to the Bloomsburg Fair and local festivals. He had such special traditions with his girls, like reading "The Nightmare Before Christmas" every Christmas Eve, and countless Disney stories from their big book. Erik also had a deep love for music and was a talented guitarist, and he was an avid reader in general. And of course, he was a huge Star Wars fan!

A true nature enthusiast, he loved the mountains, camping with his family and the peace of the outdoors. Family camping trips in the Poconos were truly legendary, especially when he saved everyone from a bear. Erik also had a deep affection for animals, especially dogs.

Erik had a great sense of humor that brought joy to his family and friends. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Erik was preceded in death by his father, Lane Smith, mother, Marcia (Trollinger) Smith; and his stepfather, Nelson Gray.

He is survived by his wife Kristin (Johnson) Smith, daughters Julianna, Madelyne, and Kathryn Smith, sister Gretchyn (Troy) Bailey, niece Alex Bailey, and his beloved dogs Luna and Westley, and his 4 cats Milkshake, Luke, Maggie, and Minnie.
