Mr. Alvis Glenn Noah
October 15, 1935 - March 29, 2026
Mr. Alvis "Glenn" Noah, age 90, of
Tazewell, TN passed away March 29, 2026 at the Claiborne Nursing Home with his loving family by his side.
Glenn was saved as a young man and was a member of Little Valley Church of Tazewell. He attended the National School of Business in Middlesboro Ky, and as with many from rural Appalachia in the 50s, Glenn traveled North for work in Cincinnati. There he met his wife and had their first child. Soon after, they knew they did not want to raise a family in the city and returned to Tazewell, where they purchased the old Buis Store and started a legacy of Noah's Grocery. After a few years of the confining mercantile work, they purchased a farm in Big Springs Union and later settled down back in the Cedar Fork Community for the remainder of their lives.
Glenn spent a lifetime of labored work which included several industrial jobs, operating a service station, farming and multiple times in the grocery business. He worked on the night shift at tobacco warehouses and was an owner/operator long haul trucking. He worked office jobs, delivered motor homes, logged timber and farmed with horses, tinkered with dozers and loaders, grew corn, tobacco and hay and spent the remainder of his time at the dinner table or on a bench at the local store.
To say Glenn was productive in his work would be subject to your interpretation of the word, but it can never be said he was one to sit back and let others do the work. If anyone ever needed help, he never waited to be asked and always had a compassionate heart for people. But one must say, two things he loved to do were ride motorcycles and talk on the CB Radio.
Glenn was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years Dena; Parents Wesley and Bertha Noah, Brothers Wilburn Noah, infant Brother James, Brother Ronnie Noah, Sister Betty Lewallen.
