Alyson Tarrant Obituary

Alyson Lucinda (Rush) Tarrant

DeWitt - Alyson, known as Cindy by her family, was born April 10, 1954, in Benton Harbor, Michigan. She grew up in Southwest Michigan, graduating from Watervliet High School and going on to earn bachelor and masters degrees in social work. She worked for Catholic Social Services and the State of Michigan for many years. Alyson loved her jobs and it showed through her work in community treatment programs and she was the driving force in developing the Improving My Practices web site and helped implement and manage the ACT (Assertive Community Treatment Program) across the State of Michigan.

When Alyson wasn't working you could find her traveling the world with her husband. They enjoyed visiting places like New Zealand and Africa and were looking forward to escaping Michigan for the winter in Florida and Alabama. She was also adventurous and on her trips with her husband you could find her horseback riding, snorkeling, whale watching, exploring shops and trying the local cuisine. Other activities she enjoyed were cooking, painting, sewing and various crafts. Alyson made christening gowns for nieces, nephews and friends children. And for many years, she sewed clothes to be sent overseas through Helping Hands Community Out Reach at her church.

Alyson leaves behind a loving family to cherish her memory including; her husband of 12 years Todd Tarrant; two sons Daniel Burwell and Alan (Robyn) Burwell; four grandchildren Mason, Charlotte, Virginia, and Anna; a foster daughter Trisha (Doug) Viener and their daughter Skylar Viener; her mom Irma (Janke) Krieger, a sister Coleen Halamka; a brother Paul (Leisha) Krieger; and several nieces and nephews.

Alyson died Wednesday, July 28, 2021, at home with her loving husband at her side. She is preceded in death by her dad Allan Krieger. Memorial services will be held on August 13, 2021, at Redeemer Church in DeWitt at 11:00 AM and on August 14, 2021 at 11:00 AM at St. Paul's United Church of Christ in Watervliet. There will be luncheons following both services. Arrangements have been entrusted to Hutchins Funeral Home in Watervliet.
