Amada Ortiz, age 79, of Quitaque, passed away on January 15, 2024 in Austin, Texas, surrounded by family and friends. Mass of Christian Burial will be 2:00 p.m., Sunday, January 21, 2024 at San Juan Diego Catholic Church in Quitaque. Visitation will be Saturday, January 20, 2024 at San Juan Diego Catholic Church. Rosary will be at 5:00 p.m., Saturday, January 20, 2024 at San Juan Diego Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Resthaven cemetery in Quitaque, Texas. Arrangements are under the personal care of Moore-Rose Funeral Home Quitaque.
She was born in Orange Grove, Texas on August 7, 1944 to Santos and Anita Cavazos. She married Severino Ortiz in Jackson, Wyoming at Our Lady of the Mountains Catholic Church on November 8, 1971. They moved to Quitaque, Texas in 1980, her husband farmed and she was a devoted wife and mother. She enjoyed spending time with her kids and grandkids, and enjoyed hanging out with friends. Her hobbies included going to play bingo, watching wheel of fortune and American idol, loved shopping at goodwill and antique shops. Amada was a wonderful mother who was always there when we needed her. She also had many friends and was a well-loved member of the community of Quitaque, Texas. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Amada is preceded in death by her husband; Severino Ortiz and her parents; Santos and Anita Cavazos, one brother, Joe Cavazos.
She is survived by her children; Diana Gonzales from Zapata, Texas, James Ortiz from Silverton, Texas, Victoria Cavazos, Sammy Ortiz from Austin, Texas and eight grandchildren; Juan Jr., Jaime, Joshua and Misty Gonzales, Jacob and Jonah Ortiz, Ashley and Audrey Rivera and 16 great grandchildren and five siblings; Flavia Ortiz, Emilio Cavazos, Nestor Cavazos, Gustavio Cavazos, Sylvia Castillo.
