Amalia Burkus, 82, passed away peacefully October 28, 2024.
Born May 3, 1942 in Transylvania, Romania, she was the daughter of the late Karoly and Margit (Vigh) Ruszkai.
On November 9, 1959, Amalia married Alex Burkus. He preceded her in death. Left to cherish her memory are two daughters, Amalia (the late Louis) Somogyi and Olga (Stefan) Szucs; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Amalia was the best mother and grandmother. She loved, cared for and helped her family any way she could, and always with God as her guide. She was an excellent Hungarian cook and enjoyed gardening and all types of flowers.
The family would like to give a special thank you to all the caregivers who cared for mom over the past week.
Funeral services will be this Wednesday, Oct. 30 at Noon, with visitation one hour prior, at Grace Church, Granger. Entombment will follow at Highland Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Grace Church.
