Amanda Mae Olson-Menning died in her sleep on the morning of June 24, 2025 and earned her wings in heaven. A public visitation with family present will be from 5-7:00 PM Friday, July 18, 2025, at the Minnehaha Funeral Home, Baltic. A private family memorial service will take place on Saturday, July 19, at Baltic Lutheran Church.
On 8/8/80, a small, but strong baby girl was born to Steve and Sheri (Warner) Olson at McKennan Hospital. She grew up in Baltic, SD, attending grades K-12, graduating in 1999. Amanda grew up with a very strong faith, baptized at the Calvary Lutheran Church, Hendricks, MN and confirmed at Baltic Lutheran. This faith continued throughout her life and she lived what she learned.
She started her adulthood attending Southeast Area Tech for Sign Language & transferred to SDSU where she graduated in August 2005 with a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Family & Consumer Science with a major in Human Development & Family Studies with an emphasis on Social Work. She had various different jobs that she enjoyed, but was most proud of her current role working for Esurance (now Allstate) having received many bonuses and recognition for her work with people all over the country.
Amanda married Mark Menning on July 23, 2010 at Baltic Lutheran Church – they lived outside of Sioux Falls with their fur babies. In her spare time, she loved to read, watch movies, sit and cuddle with her fur babies. She will always be remembered for having more love, compassion, strength, and endurance than most people. Everyone she met was a “friend” and her heart was as big as the world for anyone she met.
Amanda died in her sleep on the morning of June 24, 2025 and earned her wings in heaven. She is survived by her husband, Mark Menning; parents, Steve & Sheri (Warner) Olson; sister, Laura (Olson) & Jesse Bult; father-in-law, Merlin Menning; sisters-in-law: Melanie Menning, Meredith (Scott) Schleis; two nieces, one nephew, four aunts, three uncles & several cousins.
She is preceded in death by grandparents, Arnold & Anna (Ness) Olson and Ronald & Bonnnie (Krueger) Warner, three uncles, and one cousin.
She was very grateful to have wonderful Godparents, John O. Olson, Leah Warner Dudani and Linda Warner Barnett; and special friends in her Faithfully Functioning Forward group led by Cris Ann Olson Engen.
“Don’t be sad for me because I’m not sad. Don’t cry for me because I’m not crying. I love you all and now I just can see you from a bigger place.” (Written with love, Laura)
