Amanda “Marie” Britt Simmons, 75, of Hope Mills, passed away on January 30th 2026, with family by her side.

Born August 31, 1950, in Robeson County, Marie was the loving daughter of Hilbreth Britt, Sr. and Columbia Israel Britt.

She was preceded in death by her parents; all of her siblings: Hilbreth “Doc” Britt, Jr., Johnnie Rae Hester, Betty Jo Inman, Emma Jane Dew, Frances Dew, and Jerial Britt; and four nephews.

Marie is survived by her sister-in-law, Becky Britt; her daughters, Robin Rockafellow, Anna Simmons, Pamela Harper (and husband Bryan), and Crystal Poulos (and husband Deno); and several nieces and nephews.

She is also survived by her nine grandchildren: April Marie Erdos; Bradley Wayne Simmons (and wife Kayla); Bobbi Jean Simmons; Scott “Tyler” Hall; Devin Tew; Calan Elizabeth Rockafellow; Thanasis Poulos (and wife Ella Grace); Sierra Fatone Hautamaki (and husband Isaac); and Stella Poulos. She is also survived by a bonus grandchild, Brantley Harper.

Marie is further survived by four great-grandchildren (and one on the way): Sophia Grace Simmons, Zachary Cole McCraken, Oren Otso Groff Erdos, and Nova Sage Rockafellow. She is also survived by her beloved dog, Baby Dog.

Marie was deeply devoted to her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and all of her family. She was the matriarch and heart of her family—she held everyone together with love, shared stories that could stretch a phone call for hours, and met life with humor and strength.
