95 of Cranston, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 28, 2023, at home with his family by his side. Born in Cranston, he was the son of the late Antonio and Concetta (Paone) Poccia. He was the beloved husband of the late Anna A. (Saccoccio) Poccia.
Andy proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy before earning his degree in civil engineering from Roger Williams University. He was employed for many years by Cardi Corporation before retiring at the age of 82. He was a devout Catholic and a lifelong parishioner of St. Mary's Church in Cranston, where he served as a lector and a member of the Holy Name Society. In addition to spending time with his family, Andy enjoyed tending to his beloved garden, golfing with friends, bowling, reading, making his "famous pizza," and playing cards at the Cranston Senior Center.
Andy is survived by his loving children Paula Poccia Rosa of West Warwick, Richard Poccia and his wife Judy of Scituate, Joseph Poccia and his wife Sherri of Rehoboth, MA, and Elena Curt and her husband Kevin of Cranston. He was the cherished grandfather of Katie Poccia, Ally Nadler, William McKenna, Brian McKenna, Joseph Poccia, and Jack Curt. Andy was the brother of the late Marie (Poccia) Ricci, Joseph Poccia, Frances (Poccia) Messick, August Poccia, Anthony Poccia, and Arthur Poccia.
His funeral service will depart the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Ave., Cranston at 10:15 am on Thursday, January 4, 2024, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am in St. Mary's Church, 1525 Cranston St., Cranston. Burial will immediately follow in St. Ann's Cemetery. VISITING HOURS on Wednesday from 5:00-7:00 pm and on Thursday morning from 9:15-10:15 am. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Kent Hospital, Philanthropy Building 2, 171 Service Ave., Suite 310, Warwick RI 02886 or HopeHealth Hospice and Palliative Care, 1095 N. Main St., Providence, RI 02904.
