Amie Elizabeth Casciaro, 43, of Ellerslie, Ga, passed away peacefully on Saturday, Oct. 19, 2024, to begin her eternal walk with Jesus. Amie is best defined in two ways: as a worshiper and as a warrior. Through the power of God and a fighting spirit, Amie built an incredible life filled with joy and service to others.
Amie was born on April 15, 1981, in Phenix City, Ala., to parents Gene Casciaro and Bobbie Wilkerson. Although undergoing numerous surgeries from birth through adulthood as a result of a rare form of neurofibromatosis, Amie danced as a child, attended and graduated from college away from home, traveled, and served full-time as a children's pastor at Cornerstone Church of God in Columbus, Ga.
Amie loved her parents, her brothers Jason and Tommy and their wives, uncles and cousins, nieces and nephews, and everyone else who called her "Pastor Amie," "Aunt Amie," "Pastor Cool," "Mamie," or just Amie. Her father, Gene, was her protector and first love. Her mother, Bobbie, was her best friend, helper, roommate, and fellow servant in Christ. Amie had a special place in her heart for her nieces and nephews - Haylee, Ava Kate, Mckinley, Tatum, Jase, Thomas and Marlee - who she loved to the moon and back.
In addition to leading hundreds of children to grow in faith through lesson plans she often stayed up late creating, Amie dedicated 14 years to helping women encounter Jesus through Chattahoochee Valley Tres Dias. She inspired thousands of people but none more than her family. She made every gathering a special occasion, traveled on family beach vacations, played competitively in board games, and coordinated every get-together and holiday meal. She encouraged her family, prayed for them, laughed with them, cheered them on, and loved on every baby that was born.
Amie was selfless, she loved Jesus and her family, she had a passion for children, and she lit up every room she ever walked into. She radiated joy and wore sparkles to match, often changing her jewelry with every outfit. She made people feel special and loved, and lived her life rooted in prayer and service. Amie was a member of Cornerstone Church of God for over 30 years. She began serving at 15 years old and spent 7 years training to become a children's pastor at Evangel Temple in Columbus before returning to Cornerstone in 2017. Her heart and passion lie in serving her "Allstars" in the children's ministry and with her beloved Cornerstone family.
Amie graduated from Harris County High School in 1999 and Southeastern University in Lakeland, Fla., with a bachelor's degree in psychology in 2010. She is survived by her father, Gene (Lisa) Casciaro; her mother, Bobbie (Kevin) Wilkerson; brother Jason (Karen) Casciaro and children, Haylee, Ava Kate, and Jase; brother Tommy (Jacque) Casciaro and children Mckinley, Tatum, Thomas, and Marlee; step-grandfather Earnest Wilkerson; step-siblings Mallory Martin and Connor Martin; numerous uncles and cousins; several nieces and nephews; precious second cousins; and several best friends. She is preceded in death by her grandparents Thomas and Margot Casciaro; grandparents Jean Nevels and Bill Sinks; step-grandmother Annette Wilkerson; cousin, Zachary Casciaro; and step-brother, Brock Martin.
The family will receive friends at McMullen Funeral Home in Columbus, Ga., on Saturday, Oct. 26, 2024, from 3-5pm. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, Oct. 27, 2024, at Cornerstone Church of God at 7701 Lloyd Road, Columbus Ga., at 10am. A graveside procession will follow to OakHill Cemetery at 13109 Ga Highway 85 in Waverly Hall, Ga.
