Amitral "Aj" Simon Jr.

Amitral Simon Jr., known affectionately by family and friends as AJ, passed away unexpectedly and peacefully in his sleep at the age of 25, on April 16, 2024.
Born on December 2, 1998, to Amitral Simon Sr., and Felma Simon, in Oceanside, NY. AJ was a graduate of Pocono Mountain West High School class of 2017. He attended Bloomsburg University and University at Albany, earning a bachelor degree in Criminal Justice/Sociology and bachelor degree of Arts. AJ played five seasons of college football at the FCS level -- He started at the Division II level at Bloomsburg University for two seasons (2019, 2021). After having two successful seasons, he transferred to a Division I level at University at Albany (2022-2023). AJ was a defensive lineman for the UAlbany Great Danes. With him having such a prodigious season, he entered his name into the 2024 NFL draft. AJ not only excelled on the field, but also in his academics, as he was placed on the Dean's list.
AJ was an amazing son, brother, uncle, teammate, friend and inspiration to many. He was a star on and off the field with an immense impact on the youth and community. His smile was contagious. His laugh and his presence would light up a room. He was at the pinnacle of his football career with the NFL draft ahead of him. AJ's love for the game was known to all those who knew him. We are so proud of the man he was and still is. We will continue to cheer him on forever through cherished memories.
Surviving are his parents, Amitral Simon Sr., and Felma Simon; his two sisters, Dominique and Doronella; his nephew, Dontell, and his niece, Amila.
AJ's viewing will be held on Monday, April 29, 2024 from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Community Church, 1050 Memorial Blvd, Tobyhanna, PA 18466. Funeral services will follow starting at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, April 29, 2024 at Community Church.
