Amy Beth Koester, 54, of Effingham, IL, passed away on Sunday, October 19, 2025 at HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham, IL.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, October 27, 2025 at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Effingham. Burial will be in St. Anthony Cemetery in Effingham. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Monday, October 27, 2025 at Johnson Funeral Home in Effingham.

In lieu of flowers and gifts, memorials may be made to St. Anthony Schools or donor's choice. Online condolences may be shared at www.johnsonandsonsfh.com.

Amy was born on January 22, 1971, in Pinckneyville, IL, daughter of Donald Schoeneberg and Betty Taylor and raised by Tom and Betty Bly in Perryville, MO. She married Michael Koester on June 26, 1992 at Lake Sara in Effingham.

Amy was a dedicated and loving person. She loved following fashion trends and watching her favorite classic movies. She enjoyed cooking, baking, and watching cooking competitions on TV. She also loved spending time with her beagle, Milo.

Amy is survived by her husband, Michael Koester; daughter, Kasandra Charters (Kurt Long); son, Tyler (Marlyn) Koester; grandchildren, Payton Smith and Lia Koester; siblings, Tami (Scott) Wacker, Tony Hunter, Julie (Joseph) Phillips; nieces, Alesha (John) Sikora, Heather (Billy) Alfaro, and Allison Booth; and nephews, Landon Phillips and Jaxon Phillips.

She was preceded in death by her father, Donald Schoeneberg; parents, Tom and Betty Bly; and sister, Peggy Lappe.
