Memorial services for Amy Grace Lansdown will be 1:00 p.m., Saturday, August 17, 2024 at the First Baptist Church in Alva, Oklahoma with Ron Argo, officiating, under the direction of Marshall Funeral Home.
Amy Grace Lansdown, daughter of Ira Benton and Beulah Grace (Herndon) McCrary, was born May 28, 1928, in Dewey, Oklahoma, and passed away August 11, 2024 in Alva, Oklahoma at the age of 96 years, 2 months, and 14 days.
Grace attended the Dewey Public School where she graduated from High School, after which she earned a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education from Northwestern Oklahoma State College.
On August 2, 1947 Grace married the love of her life, Irvan Lansdown in Dewey, Oklahoma. They made their home in Alva, and to their marriage three children were born: Mark, Marsha, and Marvin.
She was a member of the Alva First Baptist Church where Irvan served as Deacon. She enjoyed singing in the choir, playing bells, helping with Sunday School and Bible School, and filling in as church secretary. "Mrs. Lansdown" retired in 1986 after 30 years of teaching both kindergarten and fourth grade at Washington Elementary School in Alva. She was a member of the Nescatunga Arts Council where she enjoyed serving as registration chairperson for its yearly art festival.
Besides her parents, Grace was preceded in death by her husband Irvan; her son Mark; a grandson Brian Paris; a great-grandson Jasper Lehr; two brothers, Herndon and James McCrary; and two sisters, Coralee Shipps and Mary Ruth Jennings.
Grace is survived by her daughter-in-law Yvonne Lansdown of West, Texas, her daughter,Marsha Paris and husband, Gregory, of Alva, and Marvin Lansdown and wife, Dorothy, of Canyon City, Colorado.
Also surviving are seven grandchildren, Eric Lansdown and wife, Rebecca, of Cedar Hill, Texas, Jeremy Lansdown and wife, Alycia, of West, Texas, Trevor Lansdown and wife, Audra, of Bryan, Texas, Jason Paris, Magen Lehr and husband, Shannon, of Alva, Levi Lansdown and wife, Renea, of Canon City, Colorado, and Lora Talbert and husband, Jesse, of Florence, Colorado; 14 great-grandchildren: Paisley and Shelby Lansdown of Cedar Hill, Texas, John and Caroline Lansdown of West, Texas, Julia and Mark Lansdown of Bryan, Texas, Draven Lehr, Jocie and Kaycie Shelton, and Parker Lehr of Alva, Abigail and Cameron Lansdown of Florence, Colorado, and Ellarea and Avery Talbert of Florance, Colorado, other relatives and friends.
